About My Website

Welcome to Scoboki Publishing! The name Scoboki holds a special meaning—it was my brother’s nickname during his time working at the airport Marriott in Pittsburgh. When asked where he was from, he replied, “the middle of nowhere,” and a coworker studying Japanese said “Scoboki” meant that. While it turns out the word actually means nothing, it perfectly represents the creative, unique, and sometimes unexpected paths we take in life. This site is dedicated to sharing stories, poetry, and ideas that reflect those journeys. Thank you for being part of it!

How I Got Here

Hi, I’m Robbie Blackburn, a passionate writer, storyteller, and the founder of Scoboki Publishing. My work explores the deep and complex emotions that shape our human experience—from love and loss to hope and renewal. Over the years, I’ve written hundreds of poems, published a compelling poetry collection(My Life, My Words) and a psychological thriller (The Darkness Within), and crafted a deeply personal memoir (Hey Dick: How I Loved and Lost My Brother), set to release in February 2025.

First and foremost, I wouldn’t be here without my parents, Rose and Jerry. We have a very unique bond, born of struggles at times and ultimately forged in tragedy of my brother’s passing. My Mom, or “Dude” as we affectionately call each other, has been the most amazing mom anyone could ask for in this or any life. She has always been my rock. My Dad, or “Dat Gary” as he is known inside our circle may have had his own demons to battle in his life, but I am so very proud of him and how he has overcome them. We have grown much closer since my brother’s death and it has been a beautiful process to behold. We love our sports, and are always gathering together to watch Steeler games, Penguin games and on occasion Pirate games. Sports helped heal us a little after Bub died in 2008. Having the Steelers and Penguins both win Championships in the year and a half or so have his death went a long way to forging our bond through something we all commonly loved, Pittsburgh sports. So, I can say that quite literally, and figuratively, I wouldn’t be here without them. Their support through my darkest of times kept me with just enough will to get up another day. Everything I now have I owe to them.

My writing journey is fueled by a desire to connect with readers on a meaningful level. I aim to create works that resonate deeply, spark reflection, and inspire hope. Whether it’s through evocative poetry, heartfelt memoirs, or thought-provoking fiction, my goal is to invite readers into a world of creativity, honesty, and emotion.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy exploring Civil War history, working on publishing projects, and spending time with my wife, Amanda, and our family of cats—who often inspire me with their unique personalities.

Welcome to Scoboki Publishing! Here, you’ll find my latest works, updates on upcoming releases, and insights into the stories that matter most to me. I’m thrilled to share this creative journey with you.
